  • Eagle Ford Bridge Over Delaware Creek

Eagle Ford Bridge Over Delaware Creek

One in a series of bridges that ran from Shady Grove Road down to Singleton Blvd (Eagle Ford Road) before Loop 12 was built. This was the main north/south route out of West Dallas and Eagle Ford and into what was then desolate countryside. Bonnie and Clyde would have used this road to get out of West Dallas frequently.

  • Elm Fork Trinity River Railroad Bridge

Elm Fork Trinity River Railroad Bridge

This classic Metal 12 Panel Rivet-Connected Baltimore Through Truss railroad bridge sits next to a modern plate girder railroad bridge was built in 1930. The approach spans to this bridge appear to have been replaced around the same time the new bridge was built, as both bridges shared the same type of approach system.

  • Old Grauwyler & Grapevine Road - Elm Fork Trinity River

Old Grauwyler & Grapevine Road - Elm Fork Trinity River

"This bridge was located on the old Grauwyler and Grapevine Road over the new Trinity River Diversion Channel constructed in 1930. The road dates to the mid to late 19th century connecting the Grauwyler (pronounced Gar-Wheeler) Community in northwest Dallas County to Grapevine in northeast Tarrant County serving several communities in between. The bridge design indicates it was originally built cc 1890 - 1910 but its prior location has not been determined. The eastern approach road was truncated by the levee construction. To access the bridge the road went up and over the east levee. The bridge was removed in 1993 but the abutments and pilings remain in the diversion channel. Reportedly the bridge was acquired by a private party and relocated to southern Dallas County. The original site can be accessed from the east under the present SH 183 bridge. Proctor Street on the west side has been closed." M. C. Toyer http://bridgehunter.com/tx/dallas/bh63078/
